Sapien XT

« Back to Glossary Index

Sapien XT is a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) device used in minimally invasive heart valve replacement procedures. It is designed to treat patients with aortic stenosis, a condition in which the aortic valve narrows, impeding blood flow to the rest of the body. The Sapien XT valve is delivered via a catheter and is positioned in the aortic valve, replacing the damaged valve. This minimally invasive approach can reduce recovery time and risk compared to traditional open-heart surgery.
