SAPIEN 3 Valve

« Back to Glossary Index

A type of transcatheter heart valve, used in aortic valve replacement. The SAPIEN 3 Valve is a bioprosthetic valve made of porcine tissue and is designed for implantation without the need for open-heart surgery. The valve is delivered to the heart through a catheter and is expanded using a balloon, allowing it to replace the damaged aortic valve. The SAPIEN 3 Valve has been shown to provide good clinical outcomes in patients with severe aortic stenosis, and it is an alternative to traditional surgical aortic valve replacement for patients who are not suitable candidates for surgery.
