Liver cirrhosis is a progressive condition characterized by the irreversible scarring of the liver tissue, leading to impaired liver function. It can result from various causes, including excessive alcohol consumption (liver cirrhosis alcoholic) or autoimmune processes like primary biliary liver cirrhosis.
In primary biliary liver cirrhosis, the bile ducts are gradually damaged, impacting liver health. Both types of liver cirrhosis can manifest as advanced liver damage, affecting vital metabolic processes and potentially leading to severe complications. Early detection and management are crucial for mitigating the progression of liver cirrhosis.
